Volunteer
At South Yorkshire Housing Association we’re passionate about volunteering. It doesn’t matter whether you can spare a day or an hour – you can make a massive difference to someone’s life.
There are loads of benefits to volunteering. If you’re looking for work, volunteering looks great on a CV and research has proven that you’re more likely to get a job if you’ve volunteered in the past.
Volunteering can also have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing by getting you out and about, meeting new people and making new friends. In 2016 we set a goal of reaching 5,000 hours of volunteering, and our amazing volunteers smashed it, giving 6, 332 hours of their time – and we’re aiming for even more in 2017.
We offer a range of volunteering opportunities, so whatever your skills or interest, we’ve got a role for you.
If you’d like to find out more about our volunteering opportunities why not give us a call on 01142 900 200 or email volunteering@syha.co.uk
Current volunteer opportunities

It was a really rewarding experience working as a volunteer for SYHA, which has ultimately led to me getting a job with the organisation.
Before I started volunteering I was claiming Housing Benefit and Job Seekers Allowance. Thanks to the experience I gained volunteering I felt confident enough to apply for a job and I’m now supporting myself.
I’d recommend to anyone who is struggling to find work, or has free time or their hands to just have a look what opportunities are out there – you never know where it may take you!
